How do I renew my CCL?

An Illinois CCL is valid for 5 years. A renewal costs $150 ($300 for non-residents) and requires a 3-hour refresher training course (430 ILCS 66/50 and 66/60). You do not need to resubmit a full set of fingerprints.

Renew online through the Illinois State Police Firearms Services Bureau at ispfsb.com, or at one of the four ISP self-service kiosks (Lockport, Springfield, Collinsville and Du Quoin).

According to the ISP, you can usually still renew with a 3-hour refresher certificate after your CCL has expired, but your license is not valid while the renewal is being processed. Renew before it expires.
