The Michigan CPL class is one day: pistol safety and handling, Michigan law for carrying concealed, and live fire at the range. How to apply in Wayne County

1. Take the class and get your training certificate the same day.
2. Submit your CPL application at the Wayne County Clerk’s office in Detroit; appointments are scheduled online. The application fee is $100.
3. Get fingerprinted within 45 days (a separate fingerprint fee, typically $15).
4. The county has 45 days to issue once your fingerprints are in, and the license comes by mail.
