The course must be from a national training organization like the USCCA or NRA, or a MCOLES certified course taught at an approved MCOLES training facility or MCRGO class.
The concealed pistol license course must be at least 8 hours long, including 5 hours of classroom and 3 hours of range time.

The county clerk’s office sends your information to the Michigan State Police. The MSP run your background, and let the clerk know if you’re eligible or not.
Once the background check is done and you’re eligible, the County Clerk creates the Concealed Pistol License and sends it to you in the mail. This process takes between 7 – 45 days, depending upon county.
Each county processes their own applications, and therefore each county has different processing times. It is still normal to wait about 1 month to actually receive your concealed pistol license in the mail.
