Submit Application

Once you get your training certificate…

  1. Fill out CPL application (can download and print here)
    1. Don’t sign it until you’re at the county clerk’s office
  2. Take your CPL application along with your training certificate to the County Clerks office for the county in which you reside
  3. Sign the application in front of the clerk
  4. Pay the clerk $115
  5. Go and get fingerprints taken
  6. Wait.

The county clerk’s office sends your information to the Michigan State Police.  The MSP run your background, and let the clerk know if you’re eligible or not.

Once the background check is done and you’re eligible, the County Clerk creates the Concealed Pistol License and sends it to you in the mail.  This process takes between 7 – 45 days, depending upon county.

Each county processes their own applications, and therefore each county has different processing times.  It is still normal to wait about 1 month to actually receive your concealed pistol license in the mail.
